“Mahavtar Narsimha”: The Magic of Animation and VFX

This is an ancient tale, from mythological times. It’s a story everyone heard in their childhood, one that deeply resonated in their hearts.
This narrative centers on Hiranyakashipu and his son, the devotee Prahlad—a king and a prince. It’s the story of a five-year-old boy’s unwavering devotion, a truly supreme moment of faith. While we’re all familiar with this tale, director Ashwin Kumar has given it a tangible form. Many films about Bhakta Prahlad have come before, and they captivated us in their time. However, ‘Mahavtar Narsimha’ (Narsimha) truly stands out as the pinnacle.
The film powerfully depicts Vishnu taking the Narsimha avatar for his supreme devotee Prahlad, annihilating the unjust Hiranyakashipu while honoring the boons granted by Brahma. This has been portrayed in an incredibly engaging and captivating manner. The blend of animation and the enchanting power of VFX, brought to life through the director’s vision, compels a comparison to the English film Avatar. In fact, during the last 15 to 20 minutes, the audience is left spellbound, trying to absorb every single moment.
The sheer grandeur and heart-stopping impact of this scene are astounding, and the director deserves immense praise. It’s my firm belief that every parent should take their children to the cinema to watch this film.

एकतर ॲनिमेशन, त्यावर व्हीएफएक्स चे गारुड ‘महावतार नरसिंह्मा’

गोष्ट तशी जुनी, अगदी पौराणिक काळातील! प्रत्येकाच्या लहानपणी त्याने ऐकलेली व त्याच्या मनामनात भरून राहिलेली अशी ही गोष्ट.
हिरण्यकश्यपू व भक्त प्रल्हाद या बाप लेका वरती, राजा व राजपुत्रावरती आधारलेली ही गोष्ट. एका पाच वर्षाच्या मुलाच्या भक्तीची ही कथा भक्तीचा जणू परमोच्य क्षणच. आपल्या सगळ्यांना माहितीच असलेल्या या कथेला दिग्दर्शक अश्विनकुमार यांनी मूर्त स्वरूप दिले या अगोदरही भक्त प्रल्हाद वरती कितीतरी चित्रपट येऊन गेले त्याही चित्रपटांनी आपल्याला त्या त्या वेळेस मोहित केले होते मात्र ‘महावतार नरसिंह्मा’ ( नरसिंह ) या सर्वांचा कळस ठरतो.
आपला परम भक्त प्रल्हाद याच्यासाठी विष्णूला नरसिंह अवतार घ्यावा लागतो व अन्यायी हिरण्यकश्यपू ला ब्रह्मदेवाकडून मिळालेल्या वरदानामुळे त्या वरदानाचा मान ठेवून त्याचा खात्मा करावा लागतो, हे या चित्रपटात दाखवण्यात आलेले आहे व ते अतिशय रोचकपणे तसेच खिळवून ठेवणारे असे चित्रित झालेले आहे. एकतर ॲनिमेशन, त्यावर व्हीएफएक्स चे गारुड दिग्दर्शकाच्या नजरेतून साकारलेला हा चित्रपट म्हणजे इंग्रजी चित्रपट अवतार ची तुलना करावयास भाग पाडतो . शेवटची १५ ते २० मिनिटे तर प्रेक्षक आ.. वासून प्रत्येक क्षण डोळ्यात साठवण्यासाठी धडपडत असतो.
इतका अफाट व मनात धडकी भरेल असा हा सीन चित्रित झाला आहे त्याबद्दल दिग्दर्शकाचे कौतुक करावे तेवढे थोडे. प्रत्येक आई-वडिलांनी आपल्या मुलांना हा चित्रपट दाखवण्यासाठी चित्रपटगृहात घेऊन जावे असे माझे स्पष्ट मत आहे.
